A new AI platform developed by University of Colorado Boulder computer scientists can automatically identify "questionable" scientific journals, a significant step in combating the proliferation of predatory publications that exploit researchers and undermine scientific credibility. The tool, trained on data from the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), flags journals based on criteria such as the presence of established editorial boards, grammatical errors on websites, high article volume, and excessive self-citation.
